Research Interests
My original interests are extending human ability, skill and knowledge in order to experience various activities easily. In the agricultural field which I'm involved in, my research interests are how practical farmers perform field work effectively with their sense and technique. In order to solve this problem, share their feeling and experiences, and perform farming well for beginners, I study "Sensor Network System" for several years, and develop "Field Server (Web-based high performance sensor node)" & "Agent System (monitor and control Web-based sensor nodes by remote distributed processing with autonomous multi agent)".This sensor network deployed in agricultural field performs monitoring crop growing and field environment. In order to develop this system more useful, I'm interested in advanced sensor network (sensor node with active sensors & movable function, controlling peripheral equipment cooperatively with sensor nodes, interface as an active database which provides useful data according to user's requests and system situation, and so on).
It is possible for sensor network to monitor crop and environment well with stationary measurement, but it is difficult to monitor farmer's operation which is performed here and there. I'm also interested in monitoring human behavior with wearable system, especially where a farmer keeps an eye, how he judges his operation with his sensing and experiences, and how he operates his field work with effective and overlooked trick. It is also my interests to assist user's operation with useful information, enhanced sensing, and power assist according to recognized user's behavior.
